The Illusion of Fast Money

In my teens, I thought the fastest way to make a million was simple: hustle. Sell whatever I could, save every dollar I could, and keep grinding until the numbers stacked up. There was no internet, no YouTube gurus, no playbook. I was a kid born in the Abu Dhabi desert, years behind the USA or Europe when it came to technology. Nobody was teaching me about money. So I did what I knew, I sold and I saved.

It started with Nintendo cartridges and trading cards at school. Later it was mixtapes, sneakers, even writing assignments for classmates who couldn’t be bothered. It was easy money. Some would pay thousands to get their assignments or thesis done. Every hustle added up. By 17, I had hit my first million.

Looking back, I wish I had known a different truth: the fastest way to make a million isn’t hustling harder. It’s investing in yourself. Not in things, not in appearances, but in knowledge, the kind of knowledge that is specific, rare, and valuable. The kind that makes the world line up to pay you.

And that’s what most people don’t see. The fastest way to a million is not chasing external hacks. It’s making yourself valuable enough that the world pays you a million for what you know, what you can do, or what you can create.

The best investment isn’t a business. It’s not stocks, or real estate, or crypto. The best investment is in yourself. Because here’s the rule of wealth creation: the world doesn’t reward general knowledge, it rewards specific knowledge.

If you become the person who understands something others don’t, or who can solve a problem others can’t, the million will come to you. It might come through a business, or through investing, or through an opportunity, but the source will always be you.
